Design of Gauges

Quality is very important to any industry for proper business and reputation. We all know that the quality is achieved by production and not by inspection, but we need to inspect to know the produced quality. We cannot depend on Standard Room to assess the quality of a parameter of a part, as it takes long time and the machine has to wait till the results come. Also many parts would be waiting in the queue. Machine has to be idle which means loss of money. We need to inspect in the shop immediately after the first part is produced. We cannot always use instruments for all parameters of checking, as the instruments are not tailor made for the required parameters. Hence there is a need for SPECIAL GAUGES to cater to different parameters of the component. Parameters are either gauged for OK or NOT OK situation or the actual value. Parameters can be the dimensions or the Geometrical tolerance. Plug Gauges, Ring Gauges, Snap Gauges, Position Gauges and Indicating Gauges like Depth and True Running Gauges are some of the examples for gauges, play a role in manufacturing line and inspection of components.
