Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA)

9 to 10 April, 2019
12/5, D1 Block, MIDC Chinchwad, Pune

In today's competitive market environment, the industry has realised the fact that servicing unreliable products is a very costly proposition. To a large extent, reliability is built into the product during the design and development phase. Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA) is an essential ingredient of reliability engineering and is a very powerful and effective technique used for improvement in the methodology used for design, assembly, materials engineering, servicing etc., for a diverse range of products and processes. FMEA can be effectively applied in case of new developments, new technologies and components/assemblies or products which have inherent problems to anticipate & prevent problems showing up in practice during the product life-cycle by an approach using methodical thinking and validation of concepts. 'Failure Mode & Effects Analysis' (FMEA) is an “ error prevention” oriented and proactive methodology that tries to pre-empt the occurrence of errors; reduce their significance ( even if they were bound to occur ) and in unavoidable circumstances, to increase the chance of error detection, so that the process could then be suitably controlled. FMEA is an aid for continuous improvement which fits into a PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) pattern of activity. Whenever continuous Improvement and problem solving is envisaged or effected, FMEA is redone to evaluate their effects. FMEA is important requirement as per ISO/TS 16949 for Auto OEMs as well suppliers. Keeping this is view, Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association (IMTMA) is organizing a 2 day interactive programme on Understanding & Implementation of Risk Assessment through FMEA on 9-10 April 2019 at Pune.

Improve OEE and achieve Manufacturing Excellence

11 to 12 April, 2019
BIEC, 10th Mile, Tumkur Road, Madavara Post, Bangalore

Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) is the single best metric for identifying the losses and improve the productivity of the manufacturing equipment. OEE is a key performance indicator, which measures, out of available time how much time is efficiently utilized in producing saleable goods. OEE is a performance metric compiled from data on machine availability, performance efficiency and rate of quality, that is collected either manually or automatically. The reality is that, most manufacturing companies have OEE scores closer to 60% or less. Achieving word class OEE of 85% is a challenging task for any industry. Educating people about OEE, constant monitoring of OEE and adopting right lean tools to improve OEE is very much required in any industry to achieve world class productivity. Today lean tools like TPM, SMED, Jishu Hozen, Kaizens etc. are effectively used to improve OEE in an industry.

15 to 16 April, 2019
12/5, D1 Block, MIDC Chinchwad, Pune

Most Indian MSMEs consider CAPEX as avoidable expenditure rather than strategic investment. Either it gets decided by sporadic “opportunity deals” or it gets restricted to majorly “sustenance” at minimal cost, that too when there is no alternative. Often the decisions, intent and integration of CAPEX investments towards ensuring eventual Business Outcome also gets left to the top leadership. This tends to makes it unfair and ineffective way of managing CAPEX.Barring professional island of “Corporate Planning”, rest of the organization is neither aware nor competent to manage CAPEX. Considering this vital need; IMTMA is organizing a 2 day Seminar at Pune on “Managing CAPEX” on 15-16 April 2019.
