Finishing School In Production Engineering

30 April to 28 May, 2019
12/5, D1 Block, MIDC Chinchwad, Pune

While the focus of curriculum of Engineering Education has been to create a very broad theoretical base on which one can build on professional competence as per specific career requirements; bulk of the Industry competency requirement hinges around practical aspects of Engineering Drawing Reading, Fits &Tolerances , CAD/CAM, Process writing, Material and Cutter selection, CNC Machining, Metrology and Managing of Production Shop. These aspects are covered by Institutes in scattered manner, without much of “Hands ON” focus and seriousness. As a result : on one hand fresh Engineering Graduates are found “not readily employable” by the Industry and new incumbents are ill equipped to face the interviews and start functioning with confidence upon getting employed. Most Industries, particularly MSMEs, do not have the resources and patience to impart Training and they expect incumbent to start delivering from day one. Keeping this in view, Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association (IMTMA) is regularly organizing an exclusive “Hands-On” oriented course where all the relevant skill set requirements for manufacturing in Indian Engineering Industry get covered in a concise 4 week course. Based on IMTMA’s track record with such Training, there is a reputation in Industry for the Course which helps in placement.

Advanced Programming for CNC Machining Centres

21 to 24 May, 2019
BIEC, 10th Mile, Tumkur Road, Madavara Post, Bangalore

CNC Machining Centres form the core of manufacturing operations right from producing auto parts to machine critical aero space components. Its effective application can ensure increased productivity, highest accuracy, rigidity and improved surface finish. A range of components can be consistently manufactured to very close tolerances, leading to improved quality; efficient production process; reduced costs and bare minimum cycle times. In modern CNC machine shops, every second counts and the CNC programme drives the machine efficiency and productivity. Many a times, the CNC programme contains lot of idle movements (air cutting) and is not optimized for minimum cycle time. Enhanced knowledge on CNC programming and its control features are now very critical to keep the cost per component to the minimum.

Hands-on training in Operation of Co-ordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs)

21 to 25 May, 2019
12/5, D1 Block, MIDC Chinchwad, Pune

In the modern manufacturing environment, process control and quality assurance depend increasingly on the performance of Co-ordinate measuring machines. Today CMMs have replaced traditional methods of inspection with gages and fixtures thus reducing the time and manpower required in quality control operations. There is enormous demand for Trained / Skilled engineers for successful & meaningful handling inspection challenges. This can be achieved only if the CMM engineer possesses adequate engineering knowledge, Inspection skills and has a logical and analytical approach to fulfill the task. Keeping this in view, Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association (IMTMA) is organizing a comprehensive course with Hands-on training in Co-ordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) on 21-25 May 2019 at Pune. This course will cover in detail about all the aspects a practicing CMM engineer requires to know for effective use of CMM for reliable measurement results. Hands-on training in CMM with live measurement exercises of industry components will be given more emphasis.

IDR Approach to Trouble Shoot Component Defects in a Press Shop @ Chennai

23 to 24 May, 2019
Wabco India Pvt Ltd, Chennai

In a Press Shop, production runs are carried out for stamping a number of sheet metal components. Each component requires a number of Dies running on multiple presses. For each run, Die setups are changed and various parameters are set. Although the Dies are proven and productionised, there are some variables which differ from batch to batch, which results in the first few components not reaching the required quality requirements. Press Shop Personnel have to fine tune some settings to get the desired results. This is sometimes tricky and valuable time and material gets wasted. In some cases, Dies suffer damage due to manual errors and repairs have to be carried out on a war footing. This calls for specialized skills which are not always available readily at hand.

Defects and Analysis of Painting and Coating Applications

23 to 24 May, 2019
BIEC, 10th Mile, Tumkur Road, Madavara Post, Bangalore

In today’s manufacturing scenario, where shortage of raw material, power & increasing pressure to reduce costs are the order of the day, ‘Painting / Coating application’ is possibly the most troubled issue. While we are nearly at par with global standards in metal working, we definitely lack in finishing and Powder Coating Applications operations. The stark difference is visible when it comes to exporting our goods. Lack of knowledge in Defect Analysis especially in painting / powder coating and Buck passing between paint or powder suppliers vs equipment suppliers lead to high rework and rejection rates.
