Training Program on "Design of Gear Box Industrial Machinery" 08 - 13 january 2018,Bengaluru

The six-day training program on Design of Gear Box- Industrial Machinery was held from 8-13 January at the Design Institute, BIEC Bengaluru.

This course was structured with an introduction to elements of Gear box and more focused towards Industrial applications. Introduction to types of gears, gear profiles, gear calculations, gear standards being a part of the curriculum. Introduction to design input for gearbox design, conceptualization gear layout, sizing of gears and shafts, calculations on gears, bearing selection, seals, keys and standard parts used in gear box. Part modelling, assembly modelling and detailed drawing using popular design CAD tools was carried out as a project. DFM and DFMA was the key points addressed in the training.

As a part of the training program, the delegates also visited the Auma India Pvt Ltd. A total of 10 candidates were nominated from companies like Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, NTTF, Auma India Pvt Ltd, Shenoy Engg. Pvt. Ltd., SEW Eurodrive India Pvt Ltd, Turbo Energy Pvt Ltd

Training on ?Machine Tool Design - MECHANICAL"

The 14th batch of the Machine Tool Design ? Mechanical, which was attended by 29 budding engineers, was held from Nov. 13 ? Jan 6 at the Design Institute, BIEC, Bengaluru. The trainees were trained in designing of a turning center, which was taken up as a project on duration of 48 days and were supported and guided by more than 25 industrial experts.

An industry visit to the Ace Designers and Ace Foundry also included in the training program to give the engineers a hands on experience about implementing the ideas. Candidate?s, who attended the training program included fresh graduates and were placed in companies like Synthesis, Mechelonics Welders, Ucam, and many more. A new initiative ?Best Performer Award,? to encourage was successfully initiated by Design Institute Faculty Mr. P Subramanya.

Training on ?Hydraulic System Design for Machineries"

The six day course on Hydraulic System Design for Machineries was held from Nov. 6-11, at the BIEC Bengaluru.

The course was structured with introduction to basics of Hydraulics system to complete design. During the course a complete hydraulic system design was carried out from concept to final design with hands on training.

The program took off with introduction to Hydraulic with Mr. N. Swaminathan, Director, Leonardo Automation, addressing the participants on the first and the third day. Topics covered by him were Introduction to Basics of Hydraulics, Hydraulics Pumps, Direction Control Valves, Flow Control Valves, Pressure Control Valves, Filters, Accumulators, Reservoirs and other Accessories.

On the second day participants were trained on detailed study of pumps catalogues, Directional Pressure, Flow control valve, Catalogues study and selection criteria by Mr. Satish from Yuken Indian Ltd.

Mr. Balkrishna Hanumant Deshpande, covered topics on Design of Manifold, Design of Power pack Layout and Reservior, Detailed study of Hydraulics piping, power pack assembly on the fourth and the fifth day.
The sixth day included Testing Demo at Industry, Trouble Shooting Exercise, Testing and Interaction.
A total of nine candidates nominated from industries like Bharat Electronics Limited, Chadha Industries Pvt. Ltd., Synergy Castings Limited and Narayana Associates participated in the training program.

Training on ?Design of Fixture ? Specialization"

The six day program on Design of Fixture ? Specialization was held from 9-14 October at the IMTMA Design Institute, BIEC, Bengaluru.

The program commenced with a session by Mr. SK Gupta, an industry design expert, with basics of fixture design, design considerations for fixture design, necessity of fixture, types of fixture, design calculations for cutting forces, clamping forces and diamond pin etc.

 3rd and 4th day, Mr. Deepak Ravilla, Manager, Fixture division, Kennametal, carried out a complete process of fixture design from concept to finish design. Pre-design activities like design input, conceptualization, process planning, accuracy consideration, cycle time estimation, POKAYOKE, 3D modeling of parts and assembly. Delegates were also trained on SOLIDWORKS part modelling and assembly modelling so that they can work on real time fixture design exercise. It was a highly interactive and hands on training session which covered complete fixture design aspects.

 Followed by 5th and 6th day, Mr. Khallaq, Managing Partner, XL CNC, carried out with an Case study ? Design of manual fixture and an industry visit to Widma for a practical exposure on machining fixtures,

Training on ?Machine Tool Design - MECHANICAL"

The 13th batch of the Machine Tool Design ? Mechanical was held from 2 August ? 28 Sept. at the IMTMA Design Institute, BIEC, Bengaluru. During the training program 27 budding engineers, were trained on designing of a turning center, which was taken up as a project on duration of 48 days. They were strongly support and skilled by the support of more than 25 industrial experts




The course also included industry visit to Ace Designers and Ace Foundry. Candidates, who completed the course were inducted into companies as, Onward, Kennametal, Strategy Automation, Acumac, HYT, Thayne Automation etc.
